So as the new year, the red carpet season started as well with the annual Golden Globe Awards. As I browsed the images, I saw many great style and colors. It was refreshing to observe not just black or dark colored dresses.
Most of the designs on our favorite actresses and attendees complemented their look and body shape. It wasn’t easy to narrow my top picks but here is my collection with 15 + 1 ladies. Plus, I cannot stop admiring the hostess, Sandra Oh’s dresses, all of them ?
My top five picks
My top 5 starts with Sandra Oh’s white and glamorous Versace dress that she wore on the red carpet. I’m in love with the design and the old-Hollywood vibe of this gown.
My second favorite was Catherine Zeta-Jones in this emerald green Elie Saab gown. I can use just one word: perfect.
The third place goes to Regina King and her metallic Alberta Ferretti gown. I like the simple cut of the dress that flatters her body shape so well. Great choice!
The fourth on my top 5 list is Jamie Lee Curtis in a white Alexander Wang dress. The color complements her hair and skin tone so nicely. Besides, she is quite sexy and classy at the same time. I’m a big fan of the style like this: be feminine and alluring without showing so much skin.
And last but not least, my fifth favorite is Melissa McCarthy in Reem Acra. I think this purple shade fits her face beautifully but the smart design of the dress that I adore the most. The position of the belt, the ruffles on the sleeves and the cute starts create a harmonious combination that so nicely wraps her curvy figure. Maybe her lipstick could be rosier.
11 more flawless ladies
And now here are my other choices.
Penelope Cruz looked radiant in her halter neck, black and space inspired Ralph and Russo gown. So tastefully sexy and her happy smile completes her look the most ?
Beautiful blue and purple numbers
I didn’t feel blue a bit when I spotted these fabulous blue gowns. Every one of them highlights the ladies’ seasonal color, Winters, and their dramatic style with a hint of a feminine touch.
My two favorite purple dresses were worn by Lupita Nyong’o and Lady Gaga. I absolutely loved that while Lupita wore a deeper violet gown with sparkly details, Lady Gaga chose an icy lavender one. Both dresses look great with their complexion.
Light colored gowns
Even though there were many cheerful colored gowns like red or orange, I adored these two yellow numbers. The clear and rather cool yellow tones highlight the actresses’ probably Cool Winter seasonal palette. They look so similar in the sense of their colors ?
I also liked that Clair Foy has darker lipstick on while Rachel Brosnahan wears a pink one. Both colors complement their look well.
The Handmaid’s Tale actress, Yvonne Strahovski wore a lovely mint Alberta Ferretti dress which matches her probably Light Summer season beautifully. She is like a vision from a fairy tale.
And finally, here are two more awesome metallic frocks. Kerri Russell wore a more muted silver Monique Lhuillier gown which was an excellent choice for her probably Shaded Soft Summer seasonal palette. While Thandie Newton dress is more white-like and shiny, that looks fabulous with her skin tone.
Honorable mentions
As I wrote earlier, I loved Sandra Oh’s two other gowns as well. The red Versace number is simply stunning with her Deep Winter colors and matching red lips. But the award accepting Stella McCartney gown isn’t less fabulous with the metallic sleeves. Both are huge thumbs ups!
I collected the photos from eonline.com and the two honorable mentions from elle.com.
