Some weeks ago, I was a decorator of my friend’s bridal shower. I wanted to create a special and spectacular necklace that showed we’re in the same celebrating group. So I searched on the internet to find out how to make paper Hawaii necklace, called lei. I found some instructions but I created my own version.

As the decorating colors were pink and green I bought different shades of pink crepe papers. However, the bride-to-be had a white floral necklace.

Here is my first and documented DIY project 🙂

Let’s see the steps

First, I decided to make 9 flowers so I cut out 9 pieces of 7cm x 7cm squares of each color. After I put them on-top of each other – light top and dark bottom.

After that, I put my finger in the middle, folded up the layers and I strongly twisted the bottom. If you want, you can put some sellotape of the bottom of the flower but it’s not necessary. Then I slightly pull down and lifted the edges of the papers, until I was satisfied with the look of the flower.

After that, I laced the yarn into the big needle and carefully pierced the flower over the twisted part to passes each layer.

Finally, I knotted the end of the yarn and finished the necklace 🙂

As I mentioned in the beginning of the post, I made a monochrome, white necklace to the bride-to-be.
